Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn: A Culinary Haven for BBQ Lovers

Oh My Goodness!! The food here is delicious! We had the buffet, and lemme say, they got enough on there to satisfy your hunger. Everything we tried was delish! It was very crowded when we went (Saturday lunch), and the area we sat had a lot of sound, land it didn’t travel well. But after some of the guest left it quieted down considerably and it was much more enjoyable. Parking is plenty. It is hidden in an entrance, so you can’t see it from the road. Lots of seating, lots of choices.

Absolutely LOVE coming home to Owensboro. Always a stop and this last visit, we also came back for the Sunday brunch... So good!! And I always bring mutton back home to last until my next visit!!! Service is always friendly and fast!

Moonlite BBQ is one of my all-time favorite spots to eat in Owensboro. I usually swing through solo for a mutton sandwich to go; slice of onion, a couple pickles, nothing fancy, just right. But this time, I brought my wife, my kid, and my mom to make it a full-blown family pilgrimage. I ordered the sampler with a toasted bun, BBQ baked beans, and fries. Every bite still holds up. The mutton has that signature smoky twang, the beans taste like somebody’s grandma still stirs them, and the fries could hold their own in a state fair competition. The place hasn’t changed much over the years, which is part of the charm. The decor is peak Kentucky nostalgia. You’ll find everything from antique saw blades to a wall of autographed celebrity photos. Kevin Costner and Bill Clinton both ate here, which tells you something, either the food’s really good or the Secret Service is real into burgoo. The gift shop has everything you didn’t know you needed, including BBQ sauce, weird knickknacks, and what appears to be every pig-themed item ever manufactured. Bottom line: If you’re anywhere near Owensboro and don’t stop at Moonlite, that’s on you.

I've heard recently they're not as good as they used to be but I did not find that to be true. it was exceptional and very much is good or better than I remember. everything was delicious. the fried chicken was amazing and banana pudding! I look forward to going back again.

I had such an amazing experience here. It was my first time visiting the restaurant and my first time in town. I was told this restaurant had the best beef brisket in the area and they weren't wrong. This place was incredible. The beef brisket was great. The baked beans were amazing. The coleslaw was fantastic. They had local craft beers. I had an IPA beer from Sixth and it was delicious. The service was absolutely phenomenal. I'm definitely coming back here on my next trip.

This is now among my top three fave BBQ restaurants! We were in town for the weekend and made it a point to make it to Moonlite BBQ. As we had been on the road, it was a little later in the evening before we made it out for dinner. #1--Every single employee, from the host who seated us, all the way to the cashier who rang us up at the end of the meal, was amazingly friendly and helpful! As we were perusing the menu, the owner came and chatted with us, making us feel absolutely like we were old friends!

Very nice staff, service was impeccable. Food was delicious and a nice size variety with a lot to offer any one wanting different things to try. Definitely a must!! Highly recommend!!

It was delicious! Never had Mutton before & never heard of the soup/stew they make with it in it. I had to ask what it all was. But we tried it... all of it... and it was outstanding. All of the food was absolutely delicious. Thank you for letting us park there- we sure do appreciate it! We'll be back!!
